What it is
What is spray-crete?
Spray-crete (sometimes called spray-on concrete or spray paving) is a thin, polymer-modified cement overlay. It’s sprayed onto clean, sound concrete and bonds to it, creating a new wearing surface a few millimetres thick.
Before spraying, we can lay a stencil (tile, brick, cobblestone and so on) over a base coat. When the stencil is lifted, it leaves crisp “grout” lines in the base colour, so the finished surface looks like pavers without the trip hazards or weeds. Decorative flake can be broadcast for texture, and the whole surface is sealed.
Is it right for you?
When spray-crete is, and isn’t, the right call
Spray-crete is a resurfacing system, not a structural repair. It’s ideal when the slab underneath is solid but looks tired. We’ll assess this at the free measure and tell you straight if it isn’t a good candidate.
- Great for: faded, stained, oil-marked or patchy concrete; mismatched repairs; new plain driveways you want finished properly.
- Usually fine: hairline and minor cracks. These are cut and repaired first (fine cracks may re-appear if the slab keeps moving).
- Not suitable: slabs that are heaving, sinking, badly broken or lifted by tree roots. These need replacing first.
How we do it
Our spray-crete process
Resurfacing is only as good as the preparation underneath. On every job we:

High-pressure clean and degrease the slab, removing oil, moss and loose material.

Cut out and repair cracks and spalled sections, and treat expansion joints.

Apply a bonding base coat in your chosen colour.

Lay the stencil pattern (if chosen) and spray the top coat, with flake if selected.

Lift the stencil, clean up edges and apply two coats of protective sealer.

Walk you through cure times and when it’s ready to walk and drive on.

How long does spray-crete last?
With good prep and a quality sealer, spray-crete is a long-lasting surface. How long the sealer looks its best depends on traffic, sun and care. Most surfaces benefit from a re-seal every few years, which refreshes colour and protection.
Can spray-crete go over cracked concrete?
Minor cracks, yes. We cut and repair them before resurfacing. If the slab is still moving, fine cracks can reflect through over time. Slabs that are heaving, sunken or broken need replacing first, and we’ll tell you if that’s the case.
How long before I can drive on it?
Foot traffic is usually fine within a day, and vehicles after a few days once the sealer has cured. We’ll give you exact timings for your job, as weather plays a part.
Is spray-crete slippery?
Sealed surfaces can be slippery when wet, so we can add a non-slip additive to the sealer on paths, steps, slopes and around pools.
Can I see colours and patterns before deciding?
Yes. Try combinations in our Design Studio, then we bring physical samples to your free on-site measure.
Spray-crete vs pavers: which is better?
Pavers look great but can shift, sink and grow weeds between joints. Spray-crete gives a paver-style look on a continuous, sealed slab with no joints to move, and it goes over the concrete you already have.
