Spray-crete & epoxy, explained
Straight answers to common questions.
Do you give free quotes?
Yes. We come out, look at the concrete, measure up and bring samples, free and without obligation.
Is RTQ SprayCrete & Epoxy the same business as RTQ Concrete Resurfacing?
Yes. We’ve renamed to RTQ SprayCrete & Epoxy to reflect our two specialties. Same team, same phone number, same standards.
What areas do you service?
Western and South-West Sydney, including Camden & Macarthur, the South-West growth area, Penrith, Parramatta, Blacktown and the Hills, Canterbury-Bankstown, Hornsby, the Upper North Shore and the Blue Mountains. See service areas.
How long does a typical job take?
Most residential jobs take 1–5 days depending on size, condition and the system chosen.
What happens if it rains?
Spray-crete and sealers need dry conditions to apply and cure. If rain is forecast we’ll reschedule rather than risk the finish, and keep you updated.
How long does spray-crete last?
With good prep and a quality sealer, spray-crete is a long-lasting surface. How long the sealer looks its best depends on traffic, sun and care. Most surfaces benefit from a re-seal every few years, which refreshes colour and protection.
Can spray-crete go over cracked concrete?
Minor cracks, yes. We cut and repair them before resurfacing. If the slab is still moving, fine cracks can reflect through over time. Slabs that are heaving, sunken or broken need replacing first, and we’ll tell you if that’s the case.
How long before I can drive on it?
Foot traffic is usually fine within a day, and vehicles after a few days once the sealer has cured. We’ll give you exact timings for your job, as weather plays a part.
Is spray-crete slippery?
Sealed surfaces can be slippery when wet, so we can add a non-slip additive to the sealer on paths, steps, slopes and around pools.
Can I see colours and patterns before deciding?
Yes. Try combinations in our Design Studio, then we bring physical samples to your free on-site measure.
Spray-crete vs pavers: which is better?
Pavers look great but can shift, sink and grow weeds between joints. Spray-crete gives a paver-style look on a continuous, sealed slab with no joints to move, and it goes over the concrete you already have.
How long does an epoxy floor take?
Most home garages take 2–4 days including prep, coats and cure time between them. Foot traffic is usually fine after about a day and cars after several days. We’ll confirm for your system.
Is epoxy flooring slippery?
A smooth gloss finish can be slippery when wet. Flake and quartz finishes add texture, and our Grip Finish adds a slip-resistant topcoat for ramps, wash bays and wet areas.
Will hot tyres lift the epoxy?
Hot-tyre pick-up is a common problem with thin garage paints. A properly bonded, multi-coat epoxy system over a ground slab is far more resistant.
Can you epoxy over existing paint or coating?
Usually the old coating needs to be ground off so the new system bonds to the concrete. We’ll check what’s there at the measure.
Does epoxy yellow in the sun?
Some epoxies can amber with UV exposure, which is why we choose the topcoat to suit the space, especially garages that get direct afternoon sun with the door open.
